Stella Middle Charter Academy and Bright Star Secondary Charter Academy have both performed impressively on state measures of academic performance.
In 2003-04, Stella Academy’s Academic Performance Index (API) score was 679, which ranked it 13th out of 86 public middle schools in LAUSD. By 2006-07, Stella’s API score had risen to 832, earning the school the #3 ranking out of over 100 public middle schools in LAUSD (and just three points from #1). When compared to similar schools statewide (similar in terms of student income level and ethnicity), Stella Academy earns the #1 ranking.
In 2006-07, its first year of operation, Bright Star Secondary Charter Academy earned an API score of 762, which ranked it in the top quartile among all high schools in LAUSD.
