Curriculum Highlights Our core curriculum focuses on mathematics, history, language arts, and science. We believe reading and writing are the cornerstone to all other academic skills. All students take courses in Spanish, physical education, and music. Technology is infused across all classroom learning environments and students read independently at home for 30 minutes every day, 360 days a year. Our students are encouraged to be critical thinkers and problem solvers. Students share in the responsibility of receiving a quality education and mechanisms are in place for timely attendance, classroom behavior, independent work completion, and active participation in all aspects of our school program. Classroom Environment In a Bright Star classroom, students and teachers are engaged in the learning process together. High expectations are set for all students, and they are supported by caring adults as they achieve academic success and personal growth. Students are taught to respect themselves and others, and believe in the possibility of a bright and meaningful future. Our School Staff Bright Star Schools teachers are either fully credentialed or in a credential program. All school staff members undergo thorough background checks and a comprehensive training program. Each member of our school community is dedicated to their students and gives generously of their time and attention. Our teaching faculty was recognized with an EPIC (Effective Practice Incentive Community) Award by New Leaders for New Schools during the 2007-08 school year.
